A native of Ohio, Mary is a former writer and author of three published books. In 1988 she took her first watercolor course with Alan Chiara at the Boca Raton Museum of Art. She has since attended workshops with Jeanne Dobie, Maxine Masterfield and Terry Madden. She is a member of the Palm Beach Watercolor Society, Florida Watercolor Society, Wellington Art Society and the National League of American Pen Women.

Mary’s watercolor paintings are inspired by the flora and fauna of Florida and her extensive travels which often include visits to major museums of the world and the preserved studios and homes of the great European masters.

"It’s fascinating to see where these artists lived and painted every day, often in harsh surroundings. When I saw the 20,000-year-old cave paintings in France and Spain, I felt a kinship with my distant ancestors who had to decide what to paint and how to paint it, just as I do."
