    VOLUNTEER

    2025 FWS CONVENTION

The main ingredient to a successful Convention is by far the fact that each year so many fabulous volunteers come forward to make it so! There are lots of jobs needed to make the FWS Convention successful - one for everyone's skill set! There is no shortage of opportunities!

Volunteer positions will be assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis, so sign up now to secure your favorite job choices! We need lots of people, so don't assume your help isn't needed. We have never had too much help!

Once you have registered, Sandi Baier, 2025 Volunteer Chair, will follow up with you to coordinate your job preferences and day/time slot(s).  You will receive additional information to prepare you for your volunteer position.  We will try to fit you with your preferred job to the extent possible.

Those who volunteer will be able to participate in the drawing for the Volunteer Gift Basket.  Volunteers get one raffle ticket for each hour served.  And invitations will go out to all volunteers to enter the FWS Volunteer Online Show coming up in 2025 after the Convention. You must be a 2025 volunteer to be eligible to enter.

In the meantime, email us any questions you may have. Please note, Volunteer positions are open to ticketed Convention attendees only.  If you wish to serve as an Artist Assistant, we ask that you also serve in another one-hour shift in a job of your choice.

    2025 ANNUAL CONVENTION

    VIDEO REPLAYS ONLY

If you can't make it to Orlando for the Convention, the next best thing is to watch the video REPLAYS. We make them available to you at the same ticket price as the Convention for members and non-members. Those who purchase REPLAYS will have exclusive access to the videos through June 30, 2026.

All artist demonstrations will be videotaped for your viewing pleasure. In addition, we record the Exhibition Review by Matthew Bird and his demonstration during the opening session.

The videos will be packaged and added to the website for your viewing pleasure. Our Help desk will provide any support needed to ensure you are able to access them any time you want. The deadline to purchase is December 20, 2025.

PLEASE NOTE:  This is NOT a VIRTUAL event during the Convention, rather it is the recordings of those events for viewing AFTER the Convention. Video REPLAYS are automatically provided to all Convention attendees.
Do not purchase this option if you are attending the Convention.

    International Online Workshop by

    Björn Bernström

    (Via Zoom webinar)

    Friday & Saturday, June 13 & 14, 2025

Painting Light & Contrast in Watercolor

    Live from Sweden!

All registrants will have access to the unedited online recording of the workshop.

Björn Bernström is a visionary in the world of watercolor—a full-time artist whose mastery of light and fluidity places him among the Nordic region’s most celebrated contemporary painters. His works pulse with contrast, harmony, and an effortless grace that captures the raw essence of his subjects. A sought-after instructor, Björn has spent 15 years sharing his expertise across the Nordics, Europe, Australia, and North America, leaving an indelible mark on the watercolor community. His artistic journey has traversed shifting landscapes—both literal and thematic. From the quiet majesty of Nordic wilderness to the weathered solitude of abandoned barns, his brush breathes life into forgotten spaces. A deep connection to American culture and music infuses his work, giving rise to evocative cityscapes and hauntingly apocalyptic urban visions. But at the heart of every piece lies a singular pursuit: the interplay of light and mood, the delicate alchemy of pigment and water in perfect motion. Born in 1966, Björn refined his craft in art school in the mid-90s before immersing himself fully in the world of watercolor. Between 2014 and 2019, he played a pivotal role on the board of the Nordic Watercolor Society, representing Sweden. Over the years, his work has graced more than 100 exhibitions, both at home and abroad—each one a testament to his evolving exploration of color, contrast, and storytelling. In addition to his artistic practice, Björn has been invited to serve as a jury member for numerous major watercolor exhibitions, further cementing his influence and expertise in the field.
